Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the championship lead from his teammate by just one point after his victory in Mexico City two weeks ago, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he lost control at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before spinning across the gravel trap, and was blessed to escape with just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn approaching the final corner on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in P19, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
